In my immersive installation project, I invite viewers to enter a universe where love and the cosmos intertwine. My concept begins with dressing myself as a galaxy-themed bride, adorning my gown and veil with intricate rhinestones. This personal transformation symbolizes a union between the self and the vastness of the universe, representing the profound connection we all share with the cosmos.
The heart of my installation is an intimate tent-like space, created by pinning my veil to the wall, inviting my classmates to enter this personal sanctuary. Under this delicate fabric, they will find themselves immersed in an otherworldly experience. The space is bathed in the gentle glow of a galaxy projector, casting a mesmerizing array of colors, stars, and cosmic patterns across the rhinestoned veil. As the light dances upon the surface, it transforms the veil into a radiant tapestry, mirroring the brilliance of the universe.
This work speaks to the sublime beauty of nature, urging us to recognize that our existence is but a small fragment of a much grander tapestry. The rhinestones, shimmering like diamonds, remind us of the infinite wonders that surround us, encouraging viewers to pause, reflect, and appreciate the intricacies of the universe.
Through this installation, I aim to create an unforgettable experience that transcends the ordinary. It is a jubilant celebration of love—both personal and universal—and a call to embrace the beauty that exists beyond our immediate understanding. In stepping into this space, audiences are invited not only to witness but to connect with the cosmos, fostering a deeper appreciation for the magnificent forces that shape our world and beyond.

Artist Statement:
In my immersive installation piece, I invite audiences to confront the power of language and its impact on marginalized communities, particularly LGBTQIA and trans individuals. As I ask my peers to adorn my dress with slurs and derogatory slang directed at these communities, I create a stark visual representation of the harm that words can inflict. This act of vulnerability opens a space for dialogue about the pervasive culture of harassment and discrimination.
As the audience tears the dress away, I transform into a phoenix—an emblem of rebirth, strength, and resilience. The phoenix, a creature that is said to live for centuries before being consumed by flames and reborn from its ashes, embodies the spirit of perseverance. Just as the phoenix rises anew, so too do individuals within the LGBTQIA and trans communities reclaim their narratives and identities despite adversity.
Through this piece, I aim to convey a powerful message: those who wield hurtful language may seek to diminish us, but we will rise. We thrive not only in spite of our struggles but also because of them, transforming pain into empowerment. This work serves as a reminder that our existence enriches the world, affirming that we are worthy of love, respect, and dignity.
“Phoenix Rising” challenges viewers to reflect on their own words and actions. It encourages us all to foster an environment of acceptance and celebration of diversity. In this space, we honor the resilience of those who have been marginalized and stand in solidarity, reminding each other that we are unbreakable, ever-evolving, and beautiful in our complexity. Together, we can create a world that thrives on love, understanding, and mutual respect.
